INFORMATION DESIGN
a design map highlighting the Sculptured Monuments of Saint George
(Ermoupolis - Southern Aegean, Syros)
Τhe map was created to illustrate the sculptural monuments and guide the visitor through the space knowing to whom each sculpture is dedicated to.
The map begins with the topographical diagram of the burial monuments as a basis. Changed the slope and scale so that the points that appear larger are also the starting points.
To attract the visitor's eye, the grave monuments that have sculptures make them "pop" from the topographical diagram and are designed in a simplistic way and not realistic but cartoonish in order not to "witness" their real charm but also to stimulate curiosity and encourage the visitor to go to the specific point. Finally, the monuments have a number that is joined at the bottom left point with their titles.
We have placed a line of the same color as the starting point from which it starts. It functions as a central route for the space but also so that the layout of the space is immediately perceived by the visitor.
